I’ve never really theory about common basic writing styles. What I search for in a piece of writing is understandability. If an editorial is too wordy, for the description handy, then it turns into a tough read and tough to take into account. My considering on that’s if that you could say it with 10 words then use 10 words and not more. I call this effectivity of communication.
As which you can see by my description I’m taking about technical writing. But the assumption can be applied, to a restricted degree, to other styles of writing. What bothers me about some writers is they would rather try to impress you with big complicated words instead of looking to speak and idea or idea. Conservative political writer William F Buckley was like this and also you always needed a dictionary to decipher his articles. In my opinion he is good in what he said but he might have been less of a sing their own praises and more of a communicator.
